Candy Corn Theme Party
Finding an always new and interesting theme for your child’s birthday party can be a challenging task even for the most imaginative parents – think about what it would be like near Halloween!
If your kid loves candy corn, the answer is obvious – a candy corn theme party! It is a party which does not require too much preparation and gives you the occasion to play with fun, lively colors, as well as the candy.
The candy corn theme party usually revolves around the three main colors which make the candy corn: yellow, orange and white. Thus you will have to refrain from using any other colors and stick only to this trio for the party. It may seem restrictive, but this is not the case as there are plenty of decorating ideas that follow this pattern – after all, those are the colors of autumn, and of Halloween!
Invitations
For invitations, download a stock picture of candy corn and write on it all the details of the party, like the address where it will take place and the date, as well as to whom the invitation is addressed. Also ask the guests to dress in yellow, orange and white so that they can stick to the party’s theme. Add a couple candies as well.
Decorations
For decorations purchase some white, orange and yellow tulle, cut equal strips and tie them together with a thin thread. Then hang it from the different things you have on the walls. Also, use some tulle to wrap the glasses from which the guests are going to drink. Purchase white, orange and yellow balloons and place them around the room.
Choose a straight or triangle vase and fill it with layers of yellow, orange and white candies to achieve the candy corn look. For the napkin ring holders take a needle, a white thread and string some candy corns. You will obtain a beautiful, edible napkin rings that the children can take home or eat during the party.
Purchase a large, round yellow table cloth, a medium large round orange tablecloth and a smaller white round tablecloth and combine them to get a layered candy corn effect. Place a yellow large plate at the bottom, an orange one in the middle and a smaller one on top. Make some sachets out of white tulle, put some candy corn in each one of them and tie them with white, orange and yellow ribbons. Then place the sachets on the white plate as a gift for the guests.
Games and activities
For the activities during the candy corn theme party you should search the stores or the internet for a candy corn related puzzle and ask the children to solve it by the end of the party. Also count some candy corn and place them in a bowl and ask the guests to guess the exact number of candy corn from the bowl. The winner will get to keep all the candy corns from the bowl.
Another great way of keeping children busy is to form a triangle out of glasses and then toss candy corns towards them. The child whose candies go inside the glass wins!
Invite kids to dress up in candy corn costumes! Simply ask everybody to wear something orange, white and yellow, or purchase a costume. The most elaborate dress up wins a prize.
Last, but not least make sure to have a camera around and take pictures of each guest with candy corn as vampire teeth. Print the pictures and give them to each one of the guests. If you cannot do this on spot, send them when you send the thank you cards. It will be a great way to mark the moment!
What to serve
Because the entire candy corn party is based on the candy corn colors, so should be the meal you serve. You can make fruit and vegetable plates following the pattern. Use oranges, pineapple and apples for a candy corn-like fruit tray and yellow bell peppers, carrots and radishes for a veggie tray. You can also serve corn on the cob, corn bread, popcorn and corn soufflé.
Make a candy corn pudding by making a layer of vanilla pudding and put it in the fridge until it hardens. Then add another layer of orange pudding, leave it in the fridge to harden and last put a layer of banana, lemon or pineapple pudding, then turn it upside down and serve with whipped cream. You can also make an ice-cream using the same flavors if outside is hot.
Candy corn themed parties are a fun way to celebrate your child’s birthday, especially if this happens to be in fall. So break the pattern and dare to organize a three-color birthday party!
